Simple Grilled Octopus


Simple instructions for grilled octopus which you can then use in any number of dishes!

  1. Defrost the octopus.
  2. Place in a pan and cover with water.
  3. Add the cloves of garlic and the wine or vinegar.
  4. Boil for 25 minutes.
  5. Drain and cool the octopus.
  6. Grill over high heat, 2-4 minutes per side, charring the tentacles.

Notes

  1. If your octopus doesn't come cleaned, ask your butcher or fishmonger to clean it for you.
  2. To serve, cut the octopus up into pieces as you see fit, drizzle with oil and vinegar, then season with salt and pepper.
  3. You can also cut the octopus up into pieces for use in any seafood recipe. The flavor is very mild and would be appropriate for most seafood dishes.
  4. On the other hand, can't you just see a whole octopus in the center of a dish of paella?
  5. Since an octopus doesn't have any ribs, it's ok to boil it before grilling it.
