Display and Keypad
The MEATER Block contains a small display and keypad so that you can use it in Standalone Mode without the need for WiFi or a
smart phone. The display is an OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display that is 11.9mm wide by 23mm tall (0.47 x .9 inches).
The keypad is a touch capacitive keypad with a Power On/Off key, a tools key, up/down/left/right arrow keys and an Enter key.
Using The MEATER Block in Standalone Mode
The MEATER Block has two modes of operation, standalone and WiFi. WiFi mode, of course, connects the MEATER Block to a WiFi
network and allows monitoring of the four probes on a smart phone from anywhere you have internet access. Standalone mode
allows you to use the MEATER Block without any need for WiFi or a Smartphone. You can set up cooks, monitor cooks, etc. without
needing the Internet. So let's take a look at using the MEATER Block in Standalone Mode.
Power On: When you press the power on/off key, a red light above the display will light up for a moment. It will then change to a dim slow flashing mode to let you know that the MEATER Block is powered on. Then on the display you will first briefly see the "in progress" screen followed by the startup menu. Highlight "Standalone" and press "Enter" and you will then see the next screen which shows the four probes pairing with the Block. The circular icons will rotate while the probes are pairing. Once each probe pairs, the pairing icon is replaced with the word "Setup" showing that you may now setup a cook for that probe.

Status Screens: The first screen below shows the battery level of the 4 AA batteries that power the Block. (If you use a Micro-USB cable to power the Block, the battery symbol is replaced by an image of wall plug.) Since at this point, there are no cooks set up, each probe shows "Setup" to let you know that you can select the probe, press "Enter" and set up a cook.) If you press the right arrow repeatedly, you will scroll through all of the five status screens. From left to right, the five status screens are battery level, time remainin on your cook, internal (meat) probe temperature, ambient (extenral) probe temperature and the target temperature for your cook.

Below are those same five status screens, but now with a chicken cook set up for probe 1. Again from left to right you have a progress bar showing the percentage of time remaining, actual time remaining, temperature of the meat, temperature inside the cooker and the target temperature. Note that since we weren't cooking a real chicken, the time remaining screen shows that the MEATER Block is still trying to estimate the time remaining.
