Fantastic. (07/12/15) (46.246.44.58) 26. Terrific site, where did you come up with the information in this blog? Im glad I found it though, ill be checking back soon to see what other articles you have. (07/11/15) (46.246.62.183) 25. I bought a 10 lb. bag of this charcoal when DoitBest had it on sale for $5. The bag now says "Product of Mexico" so it's no longer sourced from South America. There were no objectionable odors nor flavors using this charcoal to cook a 18 lb. beef brisket with some hickory. It was somewhat smoky and sparky when lighting up in the chimney starter. Heat produced and burn time were both above average. At the $0.50 / lb. price I got it for I gave it 4 stars; at full price of $7 ($0.70 / lb.) I'd rate it 3 stars. (06/14/15) (98.30.1.38) 24. WrR4zo I value the article post.Much thanks again. Great. (07/18/14) (37.233.27.142) 23. I believe it may impart an abnormal and offensive smell and taste to the food. I bought some at do it best near my house. It did have some very large (softball sized) chunks which was nice. However the strange smell and associated taste was passed to my pizza crust. (12/11/11) 22. Just picked up a bag at my local store. Much better than what I normally see here (Royal Oak or Best Choice) Good burn time and the ash production was less than the aforementioned brands. (04/27/11) 21. Better than most. At least it is actual pieces of hardwood. Had nothing but good results with it. (10/17/10) 20. This is available at DoItBest hardware stores, or it can be ordered with free ship-tostore at DIB. Google to the DoItBest web site, then type "lump charcoal" the the 'search' window of the DIB web site. (09/27/09) 19. Where is this available? (06/23/09) 18. Tried the 20 Lbs bag, burns long and clean, great flavor, highly recommended! (03/16/09) 17. Good lump, great burn time (01/27/09) 16. This lump burns hot and long, good stuff (01/08/09) 15. Ash content: Very High/ Burn time = 2 hours/10lbs in offset @ 225 degrees steady/ Aroma = Nice/ Lot of popping/ Not much waste (11/27/08) 14. Great flavor, fantastic Grilling (10/22/08) 13. Great lump! (09/16/08) 12. Got a bag as a gift, gave off an ammonia type smell when starting up. Won't be looking to use it again. (07/25/08) 11. The first (and last) S.A. charcoal I will ever use. Lousy stuff, produces a lot of sparks
and ash all over my Egg. (06/26/08) 10. Really good! recomended (06/20/08) 9. Hard to start, even in chimney starter. Had to set over fire to get stared. Once lit, the this lump it burned for 1 1/2 hours, which is about 30mins longer than bricks. Also, lower ash production than bricks. Will purchase again. (06/15/08) 8. The bag the I bought at the hardware store was at least 25% dust and small chips. Waste of money. (05/20/08) 7. Where can I find this lump? (01/08/08) 6. This stuff can grill 5. Very good! all carbonized wood pieces, no scraps, flooring, etc... recomended 4. We don't care for the smell. Does anyone know actually what kind of wood it is? 3. Really good ! 2. Low ash compared to BGE or Royal oak, great smell and flavor, great burn time. No huge pieces but plenty of large ones. 1. Good Flavor, Good Burn time and consistant heat. |
